Jays drop first two
The Blue Jays have dropped the first two games in this series, losing 10-1 on Monday and 6-2 on Tuesday. Toronto is now 48-58 overall and 21-30 on the road. The Jays are putting up 4.47 runs per game on offense while they are giving up 5.08 runs per contest.
Marcus Stroman gets the start for the Blue Jays this afternoon. He is making his 15th start of the season today. Stroman is 4-7 on the season with a 5.20 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. Stroman has 62 strikeouts and 29 walks over 79.2 innings of work.
Athletics owning Toronto
Oakland is getting back on track. After a 3-game losing streak, it has taken the first two in this series. The Athletics are now 63-46 overall and 28-22 at home. Oakland is putting up 4.78 runs per game on offense this season while giving up 4.36 runs per game.
Sean Manaea takes the mound for the Athletics this afternoon. He comes into the game with a 9-7 record, 3.46 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 22 starts. Manaea has pitched a total of 135.1 innings this year and has 93 strikeouts with 24 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 5-2 in Stroman’s last seven starts, but they have lost four straight to winning teams.
Oakland
Oakland has won 17 of its last 21 at home against a team with a losing record and 15 of their last 21 against AL East opponents.
Prediction:
Oakland has won the first two games in this series with ease and I think they should be just fine to win today. While Stroman has been pitching well as of late, I just don’t trust Toronto to put up enough runs on Manaea. Manaea has been pretty steady at how much damage he allows and I think the Oakland hitters will find a way to score on Stroman or the Toronto bullpen.
The Pick: Oakland Athletics -125
