Blue Jays win in Chicago
The Blue Jays are coming off a series win over the White Sox this weekend in Chicago. Toronto is now 48-56 overall and 21-28 on the road. The Jays are putting up 4.53 runs per game on offense while they are giving up 5.02 runs per contest.
Marco Estrada is one the mound for Toronto tonight, making his first start since July 3 due to a hip injury. He has a 4-7 record through 17 starts with a 4.72 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. Estrada has pitched a total of 89.2 innings this season and has 70 strikeouts with 25 walks.
Athletics swept
Oakland had their hot streak come to an end this past weekend when they lost three straight at Colorado. The Athletics are now 61-46 overall and 26-22 at home. Oakland is putting up 4.72 runs per game on offense this season while giving up 4.41 runs per game.
Edwin Jackson gets the start for the Athletics tonight. He is making his seventh start of the season and comes in with a 1-2 record with a 3.86 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. Jackson has pitched a total of 35.0 innings and has 27 strikeouts with 10 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays have won eight of Estrada’s last 11 Monday starts, but are just 3-7 in his last 10 starts overall.
Oakland
Oakland is 8-2 in its last 10 games after a loss and 8-2 in its last 10 at home. The A’s are also 11-2 in their last 13 home games against a losing team.
Prediction:
Neither pitcher comes into this game with very high expectations. Estrada hasn’t pitched in nearly a month and Jackson has been trending negatively over recent starts. Still, Oakland is returning home and looking for some momentum after a tough series in Colorado. Toronto hasn’t been a good road team this year and I don’t think they have the bullpen to support Estrada in what will likely be a shorter start since he’s returning from injury.
The Pick: Oakland Athletics -155
