From Rotoworld: Stephenson coughed up five runs in 5 1/3 innings and was charged with a loss to the Marlins in his first start of the season on Saturday. He might have been OK if he hadn’t had to face J.T. Realmuto in the ballgame. The Marlins’ backstop ripped Stephenson for a pair of two-run homers to single-handedly ruin his day. Stephenson allowed eight hits and two walks while notching five strikeouts. He spent time in the Reds’ bullpen early in the season, fared poorly and was sent back to Triple-A to pitch in the rotation. He turned in a 3.79 ERA in 40 1/3 innings on the farm and was rewarded with a call to the majors. The rebuilding Reds will probably give him some more chances but fantasy owners should look elsewhere. He has an 8.10 ERA and 1.97 ERA with 32 strikeouts and nine home runs in 30 major-league innings this year.
O’Grady was lucky to escape with a no-decision after walking six batters and allowing three runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Reds on Saturday. The 27-year-old rookie really struggled to command his pitches early in the game. He issued three walks in the first inning alone, including a bases-loaded free pass to Adam Duvall that forced in a run. After surviving that inning he looked good until allowing a solo home run to outfielder Patrick Kivlehan in the fifth frame. O’Grady struck out six batters and gave up a total of four hits. He has a 5.40 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 15 innings through his first three major league starts.
Bet Today’s Reds vs. Marlins Game
OUR PREDICTION: The total has gone under in five of Cincinnati’s last six games and in four of the Reds’ last five games when playing against Miami. This pitching matchup will inspire plenty of plays on the over, but for one reason or another, these two teams struggle to put up big offensive numbers when they meet.
THURSDAY MLB PREDICTION: REDS/MARLINS UNDER 9.5
