Marlins end skid
Miami put an end to its four-game losing streak on Tuesday night with a 5-1 win at Chicago. The Marlins are 37-62 on the season, 19-30 on the road and 50-44 with the under. Zac Gallen gets the start for the Marlins this evening. He is 0-2 on the season with a 3.63 ERA.
The Marlins got some great pitching today as Caleb Smith threw seven innings and allowed just two hits and one run while striking out nine. He improved to 6-4 on the year with the victory. The Miami bullpen then threw two perfect innings. At the plate, Curtis Granderson had a two-run home run while Harold Ramirez also homered.
White Sox slip up
Chicago suffered a 5-1 loss at home on Tuesday, but the White Sox still have won three of their last five games. The White Sox are 45-53 on the season, 26-21 at home 48-47 with the under. Chicago has Reynaldo Lopez getting the start this evening. He is 5-8 on the season with a 5.76 ERA.
The White Sox went silent at the plate on Tuesday night, producing just two hits and one run. Jon Jay drove in the lone run with a RBI single in the sixth inning. On the mound, Dylan Covey had another poor showing. He gave up five runs on six hits over six innings to fall to 1-6 on the year.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
Miami is 5-1 in their last six against AL Central opponents, but 5-11 in their last 16 against teams with a losing record.
Chicago
The White Sox are 16-37 in their last 53 interleague games and 1-8 in their last nine games on grass.
Prediction:
Lopez has had a troublesome season, but has put together back-to-back solid starts on the road against Oakland and Tampa. Gallen has been pretty consistent at giving up a couple runs in short starts. His ERA is only 3.63, but Miami has lost four of his five starts. While Chicago struggled at the plate on Tuesday, I would expect them to rebound tonight. The White Sox still have some capable bats and I think they can get to Gallen or the Miami pen. Lopez can continue his upward trend against this shaky Miami lineup.
MLB Prediction: Chicago White Sox -125
