Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers, the Tigers are the slight favorite on the road, as they are getting odds of -115 to win. The Royals are listed with a money line of -105 to win, while the over/under total for the contest has been set at 9.5 runs. The public betting for this game currently has 67 percent going on Detroit on the road. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Tigers struggling to hit
The Tigers are coming off a 9-1 loss to Boston on Sunday and they have dropped eight of their last 10. Over their last six losses, they have been held to two runs or less. Detroit is 42-59 on the season and 16-34 on the road. The Tigers are averaging just 3.88 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.61 per contest on defense.
Francisco Liriano is getting the start for the Tigers this evening. He is making his 16th start of the season and has a 3-5 record with a 4.67 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. Liriano has pitched 79.0 innings this year and has 63 strikeouts with 45 walks.
Royals earn a sweep
The Royals earned a rare sweep this weekend by taking three games from the Twins at home. KC has actually won four of its last five games. The Royals are now 30-68 overall and 14-35 at home. KC is putting up just 3.59 runs per game this season while allowing 5.51 per contest.
Heath Fillmyer gets the start for the Royals on Monday evening. He has started just one game this year and appeared in five total. He has an 0-1 record with a 3.45 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP. Fillmyer has pitched 15.2 innings this year and has seven strikeouts with eight walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers have lost 53 of their last 75 road games and they are 6-14 in their last 20 Monday games. They are also just 1-7 in Liriano’s last eight starts.
Kansas City
The Royals have won four of their last five division games but are just 1-8 in their last nine Monday games.
Prediction:
The Tigers have won more often than the Royals, but KC had a nice weekend at home and the Tigers seem to be getting worse. Their hitting has continued to decline and their pitching has been more sporadic. I don’t love Hillmyer getting the start for the Royals, but I think KC can work their way around Detroit. I will take Kansas City to edge Detroit in this one.
The Pick: Kansas City Royals -105
