Kershaw falters in loss
Clayton Kershaw was not helped out by his defense Saturday night as he the Dodgers made three errors, leading to only one of the four runs he allowed being earned in the 4-2 defeat. Catcher Yasmani Grandal made one of the errors, while Max Muncy made an additional two miscues. A three-run sixth inning off Kershaw overturned what had been a 2-1 lead by LA. He gave up seven hits while striking out five and walking none over six innings in taking the loss. Joc Pederson was 2-for-3 and scored a run to pace the offense. Matt Kemp finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Grandal went 1-for-2 with a walk. Chris Taylor was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
Broxton comes through with big triple
A two-run triple by Keon Broxton helped key the Brewers’ sixth inning comeback off Kershaw Saturday night. It was his only hit in three at-bats. Christian Yelich finished the contest 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Ryan Braun went 1-for-3 with a double and two runs. Corbin Burnes picked up the win in relief as he threw two scoreless innings, giving up one hit while striking out three and walking one. Corey Knebel earned his 12th save as he worked around two hits in a scoreless ninth inning.
Alex Wood (5-5, 3.92 ERA) starts today for LA, while Milwaukee turns to Brent Suter (8-6, 4.39).
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 7-2 in their last nine Sunday games. The under is 9-3 in the last 12 Los Angeles games overall.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 7-2 in their last nine games overall. Milwaukee is 1-6 in its last seven during game three of a series.
Prediction:
Milwaukee struggled on the road before this series, but is 31-19 at home. If the Brewers can get to Kershaw, it can touch up Wood. Suter isn’t perfect by any stretch, but he can typically keep Milwaukee in a game. Although the Brewers used some key relievers yesterday, they are deep in that department. I think the hosts get the job done as underdogs today.
