From Rotoworld: Cashner took a loss Monday after yielding three earned runs over 6 2/3 innings against the Orioles. Cashner was cruising until the bottom of the sixth, when the O’s plated their first run of the game on a Jonathan Schoop sacrifice fly. Seth Smith then homered off Cashner in the bottom of the seventh to give Baltimore the lead for good. Cashner allowed six hits in all, along with two walks. He is 4-8 on the season with a 3.58 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 43/38 K/BB ratio in 88 innings.
Archer allowed two runs on five hits over six innings while taking a no-decision in Sunday’s loss to Angels. Archer had wicked stuff in this one — he struck out nine — but he also walked five while throwing just 63 of his 107 pitches for strikes. Despite this wildness, he limited the Angels to just a pair of solitary runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Through 20 starts covering 129 innings this season, Archer is pitching to a 3.91 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 156/43 K/BB ratio. A home start against the Rangers shows next on his schedule.
