From Rotoworld: Richard allowed a lone run over six innings before a rain delay forced his premature exit, leaving him with a no-decision Friday against the Phillies. It wasn’t only the rain that spoiled Richard’s gem — reliever Phil Maton, who came on after the southpaw’s exit, promptly gave up two runs to surrender Richard’s lead. It didn’t take away from the strong start, though, as Richard gave up only a solo homer over his six innings of work. The good showing leaves the 33-year-old with a 5-8 record, 4.66 ERA and 1.48 WHIP heading into next week’s All-Star break.
Gray was tagged for eight runs over two-plus innings in a loss to the Mets on Friday. And it wasn’t even a Coors Field start. Gray was pulled after the first six batters reached to begin the third inning. He gave up nine hits in all while walking three and striking out just one. Gray will try to rebound from the clunker when he squares off against the Padres next time out at home.
