Tigers in a funk

Detroit put an end to a five-game losing streak on Sunday with a 12-8 win at Kansas City, but the Tigers still have lost eight of their last 10 games. Detroit is 29-59 overall, 17-27 on the road and 43-39 with the under. The Tigers have Daniel Norris on the mound tonight. He is 2-8 on the season with a 4.96 ERA.

The Tigers are a mess at the plate and on the mound. They are averaging just 3.70 runs per game while hitting .235 as a team. When it comes to pitching, Detroit has a 5.03 team ERA with a 1.43 team WHIP. Nicholas Castellanos is leading the team with 31 doubles, nine home runs and 34 RBI. Brandon Dixon is adding nine doubles, 12 home runs and 37 RBI.

Indians fall to Twins

Cleveland suffered a series loss at home this weekend to the AL Central leaders, the Minnesota Twins. The Tribe have still won seven of their last nine games. Cleveland is 51-40 on the season, 26-20 at home and 50-38 with the under. The Indians have Adam Plutko on the mound today. He is 3-1 on the season with a 4.95 ERA.

The Indians have been solid on the mound this season, posting a 3.94 team ERA with a 1.22 team WHIP. Cleveland is putting up 4.45 runs per game at the plate while hitting .242 as a team. Carlos Santana is leading the team with 17 doubles, 21 home runs and 54 RBI. Jose Ramirez is adding 16 doubles, 37 RBI and 19 stolen bases.

MLB Betting Trends

Detroit

The Tigers are just 30-62 in their last 92 road games and 3-13 in their last 16 division games.

Cleveland

The Indians are 9-2 in their last 11 games against a left-handed starter and 12-3 in their last 15 division games.

Prediction:

The Tigers are a mess this season and Norris isn’t really putting them in position to do much better. He has given up six runs in two of his last three starts, including at Cleveland on June 23. Plutko hasn’t been one of Cleveland’s better arms, but he faces an awful Detroit lineup. Plutko doesn’t need his best to get past these hitters and the Tribe have a much better bullpen than the Tigers. There are a lot of ways the Tribe can get the win today.

MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -200
