Rays erupt for 16 runs
Tampa Bay scored seven runs in the first inning Friday night at Baltimore and cruised to a 16-4 victory. Kevin Kiermaier finished the game 3-for-6 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs. Brendan McKay draws the start today for Tampa Bay as he comes in with a 1-0 record, 2.45 ERA and 0.73 WHIP with six strikeouts over 11 innings.
O's blasted at home
Baltimore was shelled to the tune of 16-4 Friday night at home against Tampa Bay as it fell behind 9-0 through two innings and could not recover. Renato Nunez finished the contest 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs to pace the Orioles offense. Jonathan Villar went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Rio Ruiz was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. Dylan Bundy took the loss as he surrendered seven earned runs on eight hits with one strikeouts and no walks over one inning. Aaron Brooks will make his first MLB appearance of the season this afternoon for Baltimore.
MLB Betting Trends
The Rays are 7-3 in their last 10 games overall. Tampa Bay is 5-1 in its last six games versus a right-handed starter.
The Orioles are 19-48 in their last 67 games versus the AL East. Baltimore is 1-6 in its last seven openers of a doubleheader.
Tampa Bay has the pitching advantage once again with the highly hyped two-way player McKay on the mound, while the Orioles are turning to a journeyman in Brooks. The Rays are clearly putting a lot of emphasis on this series as they look to make up ground in the AL East standings. I'm definitely siding with the visitors again here.
