Angels’ Pena allows two runs in 5 1/3 innings vs. Dodgers
Felix Pena struck out eight batters and allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings but did not factor into the decision against the Dodgers on Friday. Matt Kemp got him for a pair of RBI singles but other than that he was untouchable. He gave up just one other hit and issued one base-on-balls in the nice outing. Pena is a reliever who was forced into the rotation due to a plethora of injuries to Angels starters. He has responded well, surrendering a total of six runs in his first four starts combined. Overall he has a 3.63 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in four starts and two relief appearances. He has a quality 27:6 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 22 1/3 innings.
Dodgers’ Buehler set to return to Dodgers’ rotation Friday
Walker Buehler (ribs) will return to the Dodgers’ rotation on Friday against the Angels. And it sounds like the Dodgers are planning to go with a six-man rotation coming out of the All-Star break, with Buehler a prominent member of it. The 23-year-old right-hander has posted a 4-2 record, 3.44 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 54/12 K/BB ratio over 52 1/3 innings this season with Los Angeles. He last made a start at the major league level back on June 8.
