Brewers shut out for second straight day
Milwaukee lost 1-0 Thursday afternoon at Cincinnati as its offense continued to struggle. Christian Yelich led the Brewers offense as he finished 1-for-3 with a double and a stolen base. Keston Hiura also went 1-for-3. Jesus Aguilar walked in his only at-bat as a pinch-hitter. Brandon Woodruff took the loss as he gave up one earned run on seven hits over six innings, striking out six and walking none. Zach Davies will start tonight for Milwaukee as he enters with a 7-2 record, 3.24 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 59 strikeouts over 91 2/3 innings pitched.
Pirates struggle in series finale
Pittsburgh won the first three games of its home series versus the Cubs, but dropped Thursday’s finale by a count of 11-3. Kevin Newman helped lead the Pirates offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Elias Diaz went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Jung Ho Kang ended the game 1-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. Jordan Lyles took the loss as he gave up seven earned runs on 10 hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over four innings. Steven Brault starts tonight for Pittsburgh as he comes in with a 3-1 record, 4.29 ERA and 1.59 WHIP with 49 strikeouts over 56 2/3 innings.
Public Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 1-6 in their last seven road games. Milwaukee is 1-6 in its last seven Friday games.
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 7-1 in their last eight home games. Pittsburgh is 6-2 in the last eight Brault home starts.
Prediction:
The Brewers’ offense is really struggling and the team as a whole can’t seem to get it done on the road. With Pittsburgh playing such good baseball lately aside from yesterday, I think Milwaukee’s struggles continue. Brault has been pretty good over the last month-and-a-half and Davies has gotten lucky with run support plus working around traffic. It might not be easy, but I’m taking the home team here.
