Segura walks it off
Jean Segura hit a walk-off three-run home run Friday night in a 6-3 home victory over the Mets. New York scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to grab a 3-1 advantage, but the Phillies responded with five runs in the bottom half to win it. The home run was the only hit for Segura in five at-bats. Bryce Harper finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Maikel Franco went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. JD Hammer picked up the win in relief as he retired both batters he faced. Vince Velasquez starts tonight for Philadelphia as he enters with a 2-4 record, 4.40 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 54 strikeouts over 47 innings.
Marlins fall short versus Nats
Miami was swept in a three-game home series against Washington as it lost 8-5 in Thursday night’s finale. Miguel Rojas paced the Marlins offense as he finished 4-for-5 with three doubles, two runs and two RBIs. Bryan Holaday went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Harold Ramirez and Garrett Cooper were both 1-for-4 with an RBI. Sandy Alcantara took the loss as he allowed six earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout and one walk over six innings. Elieser Hernandez will start tonight for Miami as he comes in with an 0-2 record, 4.34 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over 18 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 0-4 in their last four road games. Philadelphia is 7-19 in the last 26 Velasquez road starts.
Miami
The Marlins are 7-19 in their last 26 Friday games. Miami is 0-4 in the last four Hernandez home starts.
Prediction:
The Marlins tried to fight back in the last two games of the series against Washington but ultimately fell short. Hernandez doesn’t have a win to show for his three starts but has kept the Marlins in the game and did leave with a no-decision in a 5-3 victory at Philadelphia his last start. With Velasquez being erratic, I think Miami can notch the road win as the Phillies could easily have a letdown after a walk-off win yesterday and traveling to Miami.
