A’s Bassitt coming off poor outing vs. Angels
Chris Bassitt allowed six runs — two earned — over four innings in a loss to the Angels on Friday. Bassitt may have been hurt by his defense, but the right-hander didn’t pitch well on Friday night, allowing seven hits over the four innings. He was outstanding in his start against the Royals in a spot start on Saturday, but he didn’t have nearly as much success against the tougher Los Angeles lineup.
White Sox’ Giolito hit hard in loss to Tigers in last start
Lucas Giolito was hit hard in Saturday’s loss to the Tigers, allowing five runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings. On the plus side for fantasy owners, he did manage to pile up six strikeouts while walking two, but it was an ugly outing on the whole. Nicholas Castellanos was responsible for all of the damage against him, with a three-run homer in the third and a two-run jack in the fifth. Giolito now owns a cringe-inducing 7.19 ERA and 1.64 WHIP on the season. He’ll continue to take his lumps at the big league level, but he shouldn’t be anywhere near a fantasy lineup.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The A’s are a perfect 5-0 in their last five games versus the White Sox and are 5-2 in their last seven games played in Chicago.
Chicago
The White Sox have dropped four of Giolito’s last five starts and are 1-6 in his last seven home outings.
Prediction:
I expect Bassitt to throw much better tonight against a weak-hitting White Sox team than he did in his last start against the Halos. Add to that, I don’t expect Giolito to bounce back any time soon. This Oakland lineup is hot, the A’s are hot as a whole, and they’re facing a White Sox team that has dropped four in a row at home. I’ll lay the wood on the money line.
The Pick: Oakland A’s -150
