Houston Astros Fantasy Spin
Michael Brantley plated both Houston runs Wednesday in a 3-2 loss to the Reds. Brantley was at the center of it all in Wednesday’s matinee. He began his day with a first-inning single before staking Houston to a 2-1 lead in the sixth by drilling a towering, two-run homer off Reds starter Tyler Mahle. Brantley added to his haul with another hit (his third of the afternoon) in the eighth, but ended his day on a sour note by committing a costly throwing error in the ninth inning as the Reds came back to win in walk-off fashion. Brantley’s arm let him down Wednesday but fantasy owners can’t complain about his elite .321/.380/.523 batting line this year.
New York Yankees Fantasy Spin
Gary Sanchez obliterated the Rays with two hits and four RBI Wednesday in the Yankees’ 12-1 onslaught. As long-time Yankees play-by-play man John Sterling would say, Gary was scary, pummeling the Rays with a first-inning three-run bomb before adding to his haul with an RBI double in the seventh. Sanchez scored later that inning on a grand slam by Gleyber Torres. The 26-year-old has arguably been the Yankees’ MVP this season, keeping the Bombers afloat despite injuries to top sluggers Giancarlo Stanton, who returned Tuesday, and Aaron Judge, who is due back Friday. Sanchez ranks second in the American League with 21 long balls, trailing only teammate Edwin Encarnacion in that regard.
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The Astros are 11-4 in their last 15 games versus the American League East.
New York
The Yankees are a perfect 4-0 in their last four games following a win.
Prediction:
Coupled with their current losing streak is the fact that the Astros are just 1-5 in their last six games played at Yankee Stadium. They’re also 1-4 in their last four road games versus a right-handed starter and are winless in their last four games overall when facing a righty. That right-hander is Chad Green and the Yankees are a perfect 6-0 in his last six starts. They’re also a perfect 6-0 in his last six home games and are getting key pieces back to their loaded lineup. I want to maximize the value tonight in the Yankees so give me the Bombers on the runline.
Thursday MLB Prediction: New York Yankees -1.5 (+135)
