Red Sox fall in 17 innings

Boston lost by a 4-3 score Tuesday night at Minnesota to drop to 40-35 overall and 23-18 on the road. Rafael Devers helped lead the Red Sox offense as he finished 3-for-8 with a home run and two RBIs. Mookie Betts went 1-for-6 with a solo home run, two walks and two runs. Brock Holt ended the contest 3-for-7 with a double. Brian Johnson suffered the loss in relief as he allowed one earned run on three hits with no strikeouts or walks over one-third of an inning. Eduardo Rodriguez will start tonight for Boston as he enters with a 7-4 record, 4.67 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 84 strikeouts over 79 innings.

Kepler wins it in 17th

Max Kepler delivered a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 17th inning Tuesday night to send Minnesota to a 4-3 victory over Boston. Kepler finished the contest 3-for-5 with a home run, a walk and three RBIs off the bench. Eddie Rosario ended the game 4-for-8 with three doubles and a run. C.J. Cron was 2-for-5 with a pair of walks and an RBI. Zack Littell earned the win in relief as he gave up two hits with two strikeouts and no walks in two scoreless innings. Kyle Gibson will start tonight for Minnnesota as he comes in with a 7-3 record, 3.70 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 77 strikeouts over 75 1/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

The Red Sox are 7-0 in the last seven Rodriguez starts on Wednesdays. Boston is 36-15 in the lst 51 Rodriguez starts.

The Twins are 21-5 in their last 26 game threes of a series. Minnesota is 4-0 in the last four Gibson home starts.

Both teams are bound to be a little fatigued today, but at least it's another night game rather than a day game. Rodriguez doesn't post the best numbers, but for whatever reason the Red Sox find a way to win most of the time he's on the mound. Gibson is having a nice season, but I think Boston gets to him today as it wants to get the bad taste out of its mouth from last night's finish. I'm siding with the Red Sox as small dogs.
