D-backs coast after six-run lead
Visiting Arizona scored twice in the first and another in the second Monday night in a 7-4 win at the Angels, while a 3-run fourth inning helped put it away. Jon Jay ended his 2-for-5 with a run scored at the top of the order. Paul Goldschmidt was 1-for-4 with a 2-run homer and a walk. Ketel Marte finished 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk. Nick Ahmed was 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs. Jeff Mathis went 1-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Zack Greinke allowed three earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and two walks in 6 1/3 innings to earn the win.
Trout gets on base four times
Los Angeles superstar Mike Trout was 2-for-3 with two walks Monday night, but did not score a run or drive one in. He is now batting .332 on the season with a .464 on-base percentage. Justin Upton ended his night 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Albert Pujols was 1-for-5 with a solo home run. Kole Calhoun went 2-for-3 and scored a run. Jaime Barria suffered the loss as he gave up six earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and a walk over four innings.
Matt Koch (5-3, 4.09 ERA) starts for the Diamondbacks today, while Felix Pena (0-0, 10.13) draws the start for the Angels.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The D-backs are 8-3 in their last 11 games. The under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings.
Los Angeles
The over is 7-0-1 in the last eight Angels games overall. Los Angeles is 1-7 in its last eight games overall.
Prediction:
Arizona has played excellent ball more times than not over the last couple weeks and can now feast on a raw pitcher in Pena. Koch has been doing a decent job giving the Diamondbacks a chance to win each time out and I think he does enough to help his squad to a win today over the struggling Angels.
