Corbin scattered eight hits and three runs over 5 2/3 innings Thursday in a win over the Padres. He walked three and struck out eight. Corbin didn’t need to be at his best on Thursday as the Diamondbacks spotted him 15 runs in a stress-free victory. The left-hander ran into trouble during a two-run first inning but kept the damage to a minimum after that. Thursday snapped a two-game losing streak for Corbin, who will try for his sixth victory in his next start Wednesday against Detroit.
Nola allowed three earned runs over five innings Sunday in a loss to the Cardinals. Nola was sharp until the bottom of the fifth, when he allowed a leadoff double to Kolten Wong, a one-out walk to Greg Garcia, and a two-out go-ahead three-run homer to Dexter Fowler. Nola gave up only four hits in all and two walks while striking out six. He’ll bring a 3-4 record and 4.40 ERA into his next start at home versus the Diamondbacks.
