Giants' Holland shuts down Nationals in last start
Derek Holland allowed just three hits and two walks with four strikeouts over five scoreless innings in a win Sunday in Washington. Holland threw 65 of his 95 pitches for strikes, including first-pitch strikes to 10 of the 18 batters he faced. He hasn't posted a quality start since May 25, but he hasn't suffered a setback in three outings, winning two of the appearances. It helps that the Giants have averaged 6.4 runs per game across his past three starts. He'll look for more support on Friday in a road outing against the Dodgers.
Dodgers' Stripling earns fifth straight win vs. Braves
Ross Stripling allowed two earned runs, four hits and no walks with six strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a win against the Braves on Sunday. Stripling has been a godsend for manager Dave Roberts, posting a 5-0 and 1.15 ERA over the past five outings with four quality starts during the span. He also has 41 strikeouts during the 31 1/3 innings. This game was a rarity, as he actually surrendered two homers to tie a season worst. He'll make his next scheduled start next weekend against the visiting Giants.
MLB Betting Trends
The Giants have lost seven of their last 10 games versus the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
The Dodgers have won five straight when Stripling starts and are 19-7 in their last 26 games overall.
The under is 5-2 in Holland's last seven starts, is 5-1 in his last six road outings, and is 5-1 in his last six road starts versus a team with a winning record. On the other side, the under is 7-2 in Stripling's last nine home starts and is 17-5-2 in his last 24 outings overall. The under is 9-1 in Stripling's last 10 starts versus a National League West rival as well.
The Pick: Giants/Dodgers under 7.5
