Anderson outstanding in Brewers win
Milwaukee righty Chase Anderson threw seven one-hit innings Tuesday night to lead the hosts to a 4-0 shutout win over the Cubs. He struck out six and walked two, lowering his ERA to 4.13. Travis Shaw provided all the offense as he was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles plus a walk and four RBIs as the Brewers scored twice in the first inning and two more in the bottom of the third. Eric Thames came off the DL to go 1-for-4 with a run scored, while Christian Yelich finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.
Chatwood shaky again
Chicago starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood saw his ERA rise to 3.98 as he surrendered four runs (three earned) on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks over five innings to take the loss. He has not made it through six full innings in a start since April 29. Chatwood was also hurt by a lack of offensive support as the Cubs only mustered two hits in the game, singles by Willson Contreras and Addison Russell.
Mike Montgomery (2-1, 3.56 ERA) will start today for Chicago, while Milwaukee turns to Jhoulys Chacin (5-1, 3.58).
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The Cubs are 41-20 in the last 61 meetings. The under is 17-5 in the last 22 meetings.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 7-2 in their last nine Wednesday games. Milwaukee is 17-6 in its last 23 home games.
Prediction:
The Cubs bats went silent Tuesday as Anderson was superb, but I still don’t trust Chacin and believe he is getting by this season with a little bit of luck. I think Chicago will find its bats this afternoon and get to Chacin, while Montgomery should be effective enough to give the visitors a great chance to win as small road favorites. Look for the Cubs to end the day back in first place.
