Rockies struggle at home vs. D-backs
Colorado is now four games back in the NL West race and in fourth place after being swept at home by Arizona, falling 8-3 in Sunday’s finale. Ian Desmond led the Rockies by going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, while Trevor Story also went 2-for-4. Kyle Freeland suffered the loss as he gave up four earned runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and four walks over six innings of work. Colorado cut its deficit to 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth, but allowed three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to put the Diamondbacks in firm control.
Phillies avoid sweep
Philadelphia lost the first two games at home in its weekend series against Milwaukee, but won 4-3 on Sunday afternoon to keep from being swept. Cesar Hernandez helped pace the offense by going 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Rhys Hoskins walked twice, while J.P. Crawford finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Zach Eflin picked up the win as he allowed two earned runs on three hits with nine strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Tommy Hunter recorded the final out for his first save of the season.
Jon Gray (6-6, 5.66 ERA) will take the mound for Colorado today, while Philadelphia turns to Aaron Nola (7-2, 2.35).
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The over is 9-1-2 in the last 12 Rockies games. The under is 19-6-1 in the last 26 Colorado games on Tuesdays.
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 0-8 in their last eight games following a win. The under is 7-3 in the last 10 Philadelphia games overall.
Prediction:
Gray has pitched with a lot of bad luck this season with one of the highest BABIP’s in baseball, while pitching half his games at Coors Field certainly doesn’t help. Nola has been stellar all season. Instead of picking a winner here, I’m going to roll with the under as I believe both starting pitchers will be on their game for this one.
