Pirates drop three straight

The Pittsburgh Pirates are coming off three straight losses at Milwaukee this weekend, losing by a combined score of 20-9. The Pirates are 30-34 on the season, 17-16 on the road and 37-26 with the over. Pittsburgh has Joe Musgrove getting the start tonight. He is 4-6 on the season with a 4.44 ERA.

Pittsburgh is putting up 4.25 runs per game this season at the plate while hitting .256 as a team. On the mound, the Pirates have a 5.04 team ERA and a 1.43 team WHIP. Josh Bell has been leading the team with an impressive season thus far. He has 25 doubles, 18 home runs and 57 RBI. Melky Cabrera is adding 10 doubles, four homers and 22 RBI while hitting .331.

Braves sweep Miami

The Atlanta Braves are coming off a road sweep in Miami, taking three games from the Marlins. Atlanta is 36-29 overall, 16-15 at home and 34-28 with the over. The Braves send Kevin Gausman to the mound today. He is 2-5 on the season with a 6.15 ERA.

Atlanta is averaging 4.97 runs per game this season while hitting .256 as a team. On the mound, the Braves have a 4.25 team ERA with a 1.35 team WHIP. Freddie Freeman is leading the team with 17 doubles, 17 home runs and 41 RBI while Ronald Acuna Jr. has seven doubles, 14 home runs and 41 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

The Pirates are just 3-10 in their last 13 against a winning team and 1-4 in their last five games following a loss.

The Braves are 6-2 in their last eight against a team with a losing record and 5-2 in their last seven series openers.

Musgrove has been pretty rocky over the last month, as he has allowed at least three runs in six of his last seven starts. Gausman hasn’t been much better, giving up 15 runs in his last six innings. That includes seven against the Pirates in Pittsburgh on June 5. Still, Pittsburgh is the road team tonight and we saw they had in Milwaukee. Atlanta is returning home and the Braves have been hitting relatively well over their last eight games. I think they could overcome some poor pitching, but I think the pitching will be better than the number may indicate.

MLB Prediction: Atlanta Braves -150
