Reds fail at the plate again
Cincinnati dropped its third straight and fifth in six games on Saturday in a 4-1 loss to the Phillies. The Reds have been held to 2 runs or less in the five losses. Cincy is 28-35 overall, 13-20 on the road and 38-23 with the under. Sonny Gray gets the start for the Reds today. He is 2-5 on the season with a 3.54 ERA.
The Reds disappointed their pitching staff once again on Saturday, as they produced just six hits and one run in another loss. Joey Votto and Nick Senzel each had two of the six hits for the Reds in the loss. Tanner Roark took the loss, as he allowed four runs over five innings to fall to 4-5 on the season, but the Cincy bullpen pitched three hitless innings.
Phillies pick up fourth straight
Philadelphia has won four straight following its 4-1 win over the Reds on Saturday. The Phillies are 37-27 on the season, 22-11 at home and 34-28 with the under. Philly sends Aaron Nola to the mound today. He is 6-1 on the season with a 4.63 ERA.
Nick Pivetta pitched a complete game on Saturday, going all nine innings while allowing just one run on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts. He needed just 105 pitches to get the job done and now is 4-1 on the year. Jay Bruce drove in a pair of runs to lead the Reds while J.T. Realmuto cracked his 10th home run of the year. Jean Segura added two hits with a RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds are 21-45 in their last 66 road games, but 8-3 in their last 11 following a loss.
Philadelphia
Philly has won seven of its last eight home games and eight of their last nine against a losing team.
Prediction:
Gray has been pitching well lately, but that may not matter. The Reds just can’t seem to get on track offensively right now and provide any run support to their pitching. Nola is coming off a rough outing against the Padres on the road, but he has a 3.43 ERA in eight starts at home. I think he should be just find to lead Philly to another win today against these poor Cincy hitters.
MLB Prediction: Philadelphia Phillies -140
