Mariners strike again
The Mariners have won the first two games in this series following a 4-3 win at Tampa on Friday. The Mariners have won seven of their last eight entering today. Seattle is now 40-23 overall and 20-11 on the road. The Mariners are putting up 4.38 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.02 per contest.
Felix Hernandez will get the start on Saturday for the Mariners. He is 6-4 this season through 13 starts, but has a 5.33 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. King Felix has pitched a total of 74.1 innings this season and has 62 strikeouts with 29 walks.
Rays lose eight straight
Tampa was playing pretty well over a week ago, but has now dropped eight straight following Friday’s loss. The Rays are now 28-34 overall and 11-15 at home. Tampa is putting up 4.02 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.29 per contest.
The Rays are actually going with a starting pitcher today, as Blake Snell looks to stop the bleeding. He is 7-3 on the season with a 2.36 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP. Snell has pitched a total of 76.1 innings this year and has 88 strikeouts with 23 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners have won six straight against AL East opponents and four straight against losing teams. They are also 21-5 in Hernandez’ last 26 road starts against a losing team.
Tampa
The Rays are 3-8 in their last 11 home games and 9-24 in their last 33 games following a loss. They also have lost six straight against AL West opponents.
Prediction:
Snell had a dominant pitching performance against the Mariners last week and it still resulted in a loss due to a lack of hitting. However, I think that will be different this time. Snell should be able to work past this Seattle order again and I don’t think King Felix will be able to match him. Hernandez hasn’t been the King on the mound in 2018.
The Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -140
