Morton runs unbeaten streak to 20 games

Charlie Morton moved his unbeaten streak to 20 games Wednesday night in a 4-0 triumph at Detroit. Morton allowed five hits with eight strikeouts and no walks in seven efficient innings. Ji-Man Choi finished 2-for-4 with an RBI to help lead the way. Austin Meadows finished 1-for-4 with a triple, a walk and a run. Yandy Diaz went 1-for-3 with two walks and a run. Ryne Stanek will be the opener today for the Rays as he comes in with an 0-1 record, 2.78 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 34 strikeouts over 32 1/3 innings.

Tigers held to five hits

Detroit lost by a count of 4-0 at home Wednesday night to fall to 23-35 overall and 10-18 at home. Harold Castro helped pace the offense as he was 1-for-3 with a stolen base. Nicholas Castellanos finished 1-for-4 with a double. Niko Goodrum and Brandon Dixon also ended the contest 1-for-4. Spencer Turnbull took the loss as he allowed three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks over five innings. Daniel Norris draws the start today for the Tigers as he comes in with a 2-4 record, 4.58 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 42 strikeouts over 57 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Tampa Bay

The Rays are 28-13 in their last 41 road games. Tampa Bay is 6-2 in the last eight Stanek starts.

The Tigers are 5-15 in their last 20 games overall. Detroit is 0-4 in its last four Thursday games.

Detroit struggled to get anything going against Morton and I think it will struggle to get comfortable in the box today as the Rays employ Stanek and company. They should get run support too as I don't see Norris shutting down the Rays. Tampa Bay is a good road team and I'd be surprised if it doesn't win this series.
