Montas sharp in win
Oakland secured a 4-2 victory at Los Angeles Tuesday night to improve to 30-30 overall and 12-15 on the road. Frankie Montas picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Blake Treinen struck out two in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save. Ramon Laureano helped pace the offense as he finished 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, a walk and two RBIs. Robbie Grossman finished 2-for-4 with a run. Khris Davis was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Daniel Mengden will start tonight as he is 1-1 with a 3.05 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over 20 2/3 innings.
Ohtani homers in loss
Shohei Ohtani hit a 2-run homer in the sixth inning Tuesday night to account for the only LA runs in a 4-2 home loss against Oakland. He finished 2-for-3 with the home run, a walk and the two RBIs. Brian Goodwin was 1-for-4 with a double, while Tommy La Stella also finished 1-for-4. Griffin Canning suffered the loss as he allowed four earned runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Cam Bedrosian will be the opener for the Angels tonight as he enters with a 2-3 record, 2.96 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 30 strikeouts over 27 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The Athletics are 7-0 in their last seven road games. Oakland is 5-1 in the last six Mengden starts on grass.
Los Angeles
The Angels are 2-6 in their last eight home games. Los Angeles is 18-8 in its last 26 home games versus the A’s.
Prediction:
The A’s have been fantastic on the road lately, but with the Angels using Bedrosion today before a bulk pitcher it could throw the visitors off a little. Mike Trout has been quiet lately, so look for him to perhaps make a big impact in an Angels win. Mengden is sometimes reliable, but usually never much to write home about and LA should be able to get to him.
