Twins drop opener
Minnesota is coming off a 5-2 loss to the Indians last night in Cleveland to snap a three-game win streak. Minnesota is 40-19 on the season, 19-10 at home and 29-27 with the over. The Twins have Martin Perez getting the start today. He is 7-2 on the season with a 3.71 ERA.
The Twins couldn’t find much offense on Tuesday night, which had not been a problem most of the year. They had just five hits and two runs in the loss. Marwin Gonzalez was the lone Twin with multiple hits, and he also drove in a run. Devin Smeltzer took his first loss of the year, giving up five runs over 6.1 innings with three walks and two strikeouts. He also gave up four home runs.
Indians get needed win
Cleveland moved back to the .500 mark on Tuesday with a win over the AL Central leader. The Indians are 30-30 on the season, 16-14 at home and 36-23 with the under. Cleveland has Carlos Carrasco on the mound today. He is 4-6 on the season with a 4.98 ERA.
Shane Bieber improved to 5-2 on Tuesday by picking up the win on the mound. He gave up just two runs on five hits over seven innings. Bieber had seven strikeouts with just one walk. Brad Hand added his 17th save of the year in the ninth. At the plate, Cleveland hit four home runs. Francisco Lindor had two of them while driving in three runs. Roberto Perez and Jake Bauers also went long in the win.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins have won six straight Game 2’s of a series and 21 of their last 26 division games.
Cleveland
The Indians are 2-6 in their last eight home games, but 22-10 in Carrasco’s last 32 home starts.
Prediction:
Perez is coming off his worst outing of the season, allowing six runs over 2.2 innings at Tampa. He has allowed multiple runs in three of his last four starts and has been struggling with walks all season. Carrasco is also coming off a rough couple of starts. He gave up six runs to the White Sox and five to the Rays. His ERA has climbed nearly a full run over his last three outings. Carrasco is up against a bad team to be in a funk against. Minnesota can really pound the ball when it gets going. I know Cleveland had four home runs on Tuesday, but the Indians haven’t shown a lot of consistency at the plate this season.
MLB Prediction: Minnesota Twins +110
