Marlins humbled by D-backs
Miami was swept over the weekend at Arizona, dropping the series finale by a count of 6-1. The Marlins scored their lone run in the top of the ninth on an RBI double from Justin Bour. Third baseman Brian Anderson went 2-for-4 with a double. Dan Straily took the loss as he allowed one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts and five walks over 4 1/3 innings.
Wacha carries no-hitter into ninth
Cardinals starting pitcher Michael Wacha no-hit the Pirates through eight innings Sunday afternoon in a 5-0 win. After giving up a hit in the ninth, he was lifted but not before eight-plus one-hit innings with eight strikeouts and two walks. Marcell Ozuna hit a grand slam to pace the offense, while Tommy Pham was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jose Martinez doubled and scored two runs.
Jose Urena (0-7, 4.41 ERA) will start today for the Marlins, while Carlos Martinez (3-2, 1.62) will go for St. Louis.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins are 16-35 in their last 51 road games. Miami is 18-37 in its last 55 games overall.
St. Louis
The over is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings. The under is 7-1 in the last eight Cardinals home games.
Prediction:
I can’t back Urena on the road when he hasn’t put it together all season with a team on a six-game losing streak. Martinez has been great when healthy this season and I see St. Louis winning with ease. Consider a run line bet, although the St. Louis offense has been inconsistent.
