Oddsmakers from online sportsbooks currently list the Giants as a -120 favorite. As of this writing, 65% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Diamondbacks to beat the Giants on the moneyline. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on this game.
Diamondbacks’ Godley secures fifth victory in last start
Zack Godley yielded just two earned runs, six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts across six innings in a victory Tuesday against the Reds. Godley was anything but perfect, as he hit a batter and also served up a homer to Eugenio Suarez in the sixth inning. However, he hung on for just his second quality start across the past five outings and was able to return to the win column for the first time since April 27. He is a nice buy-low candidate in NL-only fantasy play and deeper mixed formats if he is on the waiver wire thanks to an impatient opponent.
Giants’ Holland allows four runs over five innings vs. Rockies
Derek Holland surrendered four runs in five innings but still managed to snare a win against the Rockies at Coors Field on Wednesday. He fell behind 3-0 before getting an out and his fantasy owners were surely expecting an epic beatdown from there but he was able to bear down and get through five frames allowing just one more run. Nolan Arenado got him for a three-run dinger in the first inning. Holland improves to 3-6 with a 4.94 ERA and 1.32 WHIP after 11 starts in his first season in the National League.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 6-2 in their last eight games versus the Giants and have won five of their last six games overall.
San Francisco
The Giants have won four straight games overall, five straight at home, and seven straight after allowing two runs or less in their previous game.
Prediction:
The Giants received excellent pitching over the weekend versus the Phillies but Philadelphia was also banged up. Arizona comes to AT&T Park tonight swinging some hot sticks after sweeping Miami over the weekend. The Diamondbacks are 4-0 in Godley’s last four starts coming off five days of rest and are 9-3 in his last 12 outings when he pitches the first game of a series. On the other side, the Giants are just 2-5 in Holland’s last seven starts versus a team with a winning record.
The Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks +100
