Arcia wins it for Brewers
Orlando Arcia hit a go-ahead 2-run home run in the top of the 13th inning Saturday night to lift Milwaukee to a 12-10 victory at Pittsburgh. Keston Hiura had previously hit a 2-run homer in the top of the ninth to force extra innings. It was the second home run of the contest for Arcia as he went 2-for-6 with two long balls, a walk, three runs and four RBIs. Hiura went 2-for-6 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Mike Moustakas finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Christian Yelich ended the contest 2-for-5 with a home run, a triple, two runs and four RBIs. Zach Davies draws the start for the Brewers today as he enters with a 5-0 record, 2.19 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 42 strikeouts over 61 2/3 innings.
Pirates fall in 13 innings
Pittsburgh lost a back-and-forth contest by a score of 12-10 at home in 13 innings Saturday afternoon at home versus Milwaukee. Starling Marte helped pace the Pirates offense as he finished 4-for-7 with a home run and three RBIs. Elias Diaz ended the contest 3-for-7 with a double and four RBIs. Jose Osuna was 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit two-run homer. Adam Frazier finished 3-for-5 with a triple. MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 4-1 in the last five Davies starts on Sundays. Milwaukee is 12-5 in its last 17 Sunday games.
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 7-3 in their last 10 Sunday games. Pittsburgh is 4-1 in its last five games when facing Davies.
Prediction:
Both teams will have depleted bullpens today, which will put even more of an emphasis on starting pitching. Davies is a decent middle of the rotation pitcher, but I’ve been really impressed by the improvements of Lyles this season as he’s pitching some of the best baseball of his career. This seems like a strong bounce back spot for the Pirates as they try to forget about being on the short end of yesterday’s thriller.
