Dodgers rally back to win
Los Angeles didn’t even register a hit through the first five innings off Phillies starter Vince Velasquez, but it got to him and the bullpen in the ensuing innings to win 5-4 after falling behind 4-0 in the second inning. Yasiel Puig was 2-for-3 and scored two runs to help lead the rally. Joc Pederson was 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Max Muncy, Justin Turner and Yasmani Grandal each registered an RBI single. Yimi Garcia picked up the win in relief, while Kenley Jansen recorded his 12th save.
Hernandez hits home run in loss
Philadelphia took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first, while in the second leadoff hitter Cesar Hernandez socked a 3-run homer to push the advantage to 4-0. Velasquez was cruising through five innings, but faltered in the sixth as LA touched him up for a couple runs. He ended up allowing two runs in the sixth inning before departing after throwing 5 2/3 innings. Adam Morgan eventually took the loss in relief. Carlos Santana was 2-for-3 with a walk, while Jorge Alfaro went 2-for-4 and scored a run.
Jake Arrieta (4-2, 2.45 ERA) starts tonight for Philly, while LA counters with Kenta Maeda (4-3, 3.38).
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The under is 7-1 in the last seven Phillies games on Tuesday. The over is 6-2-1 in the last nine Arrieta starts overall.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 11-5 in the last 16 meetings. Los Angeles is 39-18 in its last 57 Tuesday games.
Prediction:
Arrieta’s stuff isn’t as filthy as it once was with his strikeout rate down consideraby, but he is still finiding a way to get outs. Maeda has been dominant at times this season, but he has the tendency to have a very rough outing every once in a while. As long as the Phillies batters stay patient, they should have a good day at the plate or at least good enough to get a victory. You have to take some chances in betting and I feel like the Dodgers are favored a little too heavily.
