Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Cubs manager Joe Maddon said after Monday’s game that it’s doubtful Kris Bryant (head) will be ready to play Tuesday. Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com hears that while there’s no official word on Bryant’s head/neck injury, “indications are” that he “should be alright.” Bryant had to leave Sunday’s game following a collision with Jason Heyward in the outfield. It sounds like he’s probably going to be okay, although it could be a few days before we see him back in the lineup.
Houston Astros Fantasy Spin
Yuli Gurriel went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and a run scored in Monday’s win over the Cubs. Gurriel had two singles and a double. It was a nice day in what has been a disappointing season for the 34-year-old. Including Monday’s game, he owns a mediocre .267/.304/.415 batting line. Gurriel is making contact more often than ever before and he’s also hitting the ball in the air more, but that hasn’t worked out for him so far this year. He has just four homers in 207 plate appearances.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The Cubs are 12-3 in Jon Lester’s last 15 road starts and are 64-31 in his last 95 outings overall.
Houston
The Astros are 35-16 overall and 37-16 in their last 53 home games.
Prediction:
Lester is a bulldog that usually gives the Cubs a chance at a W every time he toes the rubber but Chicago is also 1-4 in its last five games overall and has dropped six of its last eight interleague road games versus a right-handed starter. The Cubs are also 1-6 in their last seven games after scoring five runs or more in their previous game while the Astros are 25-10 in their last 35 games versus a left-handed starter.
The Pick: Houston Astros -131
