Stratton outduels Quintana
San Francisco starting pitcher Chris Stratton was sufficient enough to earn the win Saturday as he allowed three earned runs over five innings. Cubs starter Jose Quintana worked into the fifth, going 4 1/3 and allowing four earned runs to get saddled with the loss. Hunter Strickland pitched the ninth for his 10th save. Gorkys Hernandez had three hits including two doubles and scored two runs from his leadoff spot. Andrew McCutchen and Evan Longoria both had two hits. Brandon Crawford added two hits, a walk, a run scored and two RBIs.
Schwarber, Baez homer in loss
Kyle Schwarber and Javier Baez each hit a home run for Chicago in Saturday’s defeat. It was the ninth homer of the year for Schwarber, while Baez is up to 12 long balls. Schwarber also had a double in the game and scored two runs. Anthony Rizzo and Jason Heyward both had an RBI single, while Willson Contreras added a hit and scored a run. San Francisco scored two in the fourth and another two in the fifth to grab a 4-3 advantage and added an insurance tally in the seventh.
Ty Blach (3-4, 4.37 ERA) starts today for the Giants, while the Cubs turn to Tyler Chatwood (3-4, 3.74).
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 2-8 in Blach’s last 10 road starts. San Francisco is 3-13 in its last 16 games in Chicago.
Chicago
The over is 5-2-1 in Chatwood’s last eight starts overall. The under is 8-1-2 in the last 11 meetings in Chicago.
Prediction:
Blach is your run-of-the-mill starter who strikes very few batters out. The Cubs should be able to figure him out. Chatwood is coming off a poor start, but has been pretty consistant and I expect him to bounce back in front of a national audience. Take the Cubs here.
