Reds’ Harvey once again pitches well
Matt Harvey spun six innings of one-run ball against the Pirates on Tuesday in the Reds’ 7-2 win. Harvey had to escape a bases loaded, one-out jam in the first inning and gave up a solo home run to Colin Moran in the fourth. In the other four innings combined he surrendered just an infield single.
In three career starts at Great American Ball Park, Harvey now holds a 1.77 ERA and 19/3 K/BB ratio over 20 1/3 innings. Harvey wasn’t great his last time out but now holds a 2.57 ERA over his first three starts as a Red. His next outing will come at Coors Field.
Rockies’ Marquez excellent in road start versus Dodgers
German Marquez gave up just one run over seven strong innings against the Dodgers in a 2-1 victory on Monday. Marquez allowed just two hits, and he walked two and struck out five. Outside of a solo homer by Max Muncy, Marquez was exceptional, and there wasn’t much hard contact against the right-hander throughout.
He’s been great on the road this season (2.06 ERA), but understandably Coors Field (10.34) has been a different story. Up next is a start against the Reds at home, so fantasy owners can sit that one out.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds are 17-35 in their last 52 games against the Rockies at Coors Field.
Colorado
The under is a perfect 6-0 in the last six meetings between these two teams in Colorado and is 6-0 in the last six meetings between these two teams overall.
Prediction:
I know the under has been a fantastic bet not only in this series but when these two teams get together but I’m going to roll the dice on the over (even with the total as high as 12.5). Marquez has been excellent for the Rockies but has struggled at Coors Field and while Harvey has been outstanding in a Reds uniform, he hasn’t exactly faced the toughest offenses in baseball. I’m banking on him blowing a tire today at Coors and both of these teams scoring enough runs to finally push the combined score over in this series.
The Pick: Reds/Rockies over 12.5
