According to oddsmakers, the Brewers are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -160 to win, while the Phillies are getting a money line of +145 to win. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 9 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 53 percent going on the Phillies on the road. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Phillies win first two
Philadelphia has won the first two games in this series, 6-4 and 7-2, respectively. The Phillies are on a three game win streak and have won seven of their last nine. The Phillies are 31-21 on the season, 13-11 on the road and 28-23 with the under. Philadelphia has Zach Eflin taking the mound today. He is 5-4 on the season with a 2.76 ERA.
The Phillies struck quick and often, scoring a run in each of the first three innings. Similar to Friday, they scattered single runs throughout the game before putting up three in the ninth. Rhys Hoskins hit his 13th home run of the season and drove in two at the plate while Andrew McCutchen and J.T. Realmuto also homered. On the mound, Jake Arrieta was the winning pitcher. He threw eight strong innings with eight strikeouts and just two runs allowed. Arrieta is now 5-4 on the year.
Brewers fall short again
Milwaukee has lost five of its last seven games coming into today following Saturday’s 7-2 loss at home to the Phillies. Milwaukee is now 29-24 on the season, 17-11 at home and 31-21 with the under. The Brewers have Brandon Woodruff taking the mound today. He is 6-1 on the year with a 3.51 ERA.
The Brewers couldn’t get much going on offense on Saturday. They were held to just five hits. Mike Moustakas had a solo home run, his 13th of the season, but not much else happened at the plate. Jhoulys Chacin took the loss on the mound, as he gave up four runs over five innings to fall to 3-6 on the year.
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Phillies have won nine of their last 11 Game 3’s of a series and five straight against a right-handed starter.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 7-3 in their last 10 home games, but just 1-4 in their last five against a winning team.
Prediction:
The Phillies have been hitting well in this series and they have a solid arm on the mound today. Eflin has allowed one run or less in four of his last five starts. That includes two completes games. Woodruff hasn’t been bad in his own right, pitching five straight starts with two runs or less allowed. However, Milwaukee’s hitting has let them down this weekend and I think he is not going to get the run support he needs to get a win.
MLB Prediction: Philadelphia Phillies +145
