Yankees blow lead at Rangers
New York held a 10-5 lead in the fifth inning at Texas Wednesday night, but were unable to hold on as it surrendered seven unanswered runs the rest of the way. After starter CC Sabathia allowed seven earned runs over 4 1/3 innings, David Robertson eventually suffered the loss in relief as he gave up two earned runs in 0 2/3 innings. The Rangers cut it to 10-7 in the bottom of the fifth before scoring four runs in the sixth to grab an 11-10 advantage. Texas added an insurance run in the eighth. Didi Gregorius, Neil Walker, Gleyber Torres and Aaron Judge all hit a home run in the loss for the Yankees.
Starting tonight for New York will be Luis Severino (7-1, 2.35 ERA).
Angels dominate series finale at Blue Jays
Los Angeles rolled to an 8-1 victory Thursday afternoon at Toronto to take two out of three in the series. The Angels scored two runs in the top of the second to go ahead 2-0 and then proceeded to score in five more innings the rest of the way. Martin Maldonado went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to help pace the LA offense. Shohei Ohtani was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two runs and two walks. Albert Pujols finished 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Mike Trout also hit a home run. Nick Tropeano threw 7 1/3 innings to earn the win, giving up one earned run on four hits with six strikeouts and one walk.
Andrew Heaney (2-3, 3.35 ERA) will draw the start tonight for the Angels.
MLB Betting Trends
The Angels are 16-5 in their last 21 road games. Los Angeles is 4-10 in the last 14 Heaney starts.
The Yankees are 22-6 in their last 28 games overall. New York is 38-13 in its last 51 home games.
Severino has been one of the best starting pitchers in baseball so far this season and although he faces a strong offense here, he has become matchup-proof. Los Angeles also played yesterday and traveled from Toronto, while the Yankees had an off day which was good for them because they were delayed leaving Texas due to team plane troubles. New York should give Heaney fits as its offense is a minefield to navigate through. While the moneyline is hard to stomach here, the runline is a great way to get some action on the heavy favorite.
