Indians shut down by McCullers
Cleveland only managed a run on three hits on Sunday Night Baseball as it lost 3-1 against Lance McCullers and the host Astros. Houston broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the seventh inning and another in the eighth. The Indians got one back in the top of the ninth as Michael Brantley doubled and scored a run as Edwin Encarnacion drove him in. Carlos Carrasco suffered the loss as he gave up three earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and a walk over 7 2/3 innings.
Trevor Bauer (3-3, 2.59 ERA) will draw the start today for Cleveland.
Cubs win three of four at Reds
Chicago won the series finale Sunday afternoon 6-1 at Cincinnati and outscored the Reds by a combined score of 16-1 over the final two games of the series, winning three of four overall. The Cubs won the opener 8-1 before falling 5-4 in 11 inning in the Saturday afternoon opener of a doubleheader. Yu Darvish earned his first win as a Cub as he allowed one earned run on two hits with seven strikeouts and three walks over six innings. Kyle Schwarber, Javier Baez and Ben Zobrist all homered in the victory for Chicago.
Tyler Chatwood (3-3, 3.14) gets the call for the Cubs.
MLB Betting Trends
The Indians are 3-8 in their last 11 road games. The over is 16-6-1 in the last 23 Cleveland games overall.
The Cubs are 14-4 in their last 18 interleague games. Chicago is 11-4 in its last 15 home games.
Cleveland hasn't been able to put it together yet this season and I'm not sure if the visitors should be favored here even if only slightly. Bauer has been solid this season but can be prone to an awful outing. I'm actually more confident in Chatwood's consistency, plus he is at home and is backed by an offense that at this stage of the season is being more productive.
