White Sox shut out on six hits
Chicago could not find much offense Monday night in a 3-0 loss at Houston to drop to 21-25 overall and 10-12 on the road. The White Sox fell behind 1-0 through one inning and gave up a run in both the third and fourth innings as well. Charlie Tilson helped pace the offense as he finished 2-for-4. Yolmer Sanchez finished 1-for-2. Jose Abreu went 1-for-4 with a double. Ryan Burr took the loss as the opener as he gave up one unearned run on one hit with one strikeout and one walk over two innings of work. Dylan Covey will start tonight for the White Sox as he enters with an 0-2 record, 4.41 ERA and 4.47 WHIP with six strikeouts over 16 1/3 innings.
Marisnick, White homer in win
Houston carved out a 3-0 home victory Monday night for its 11th win in its last 12 contests. Jake Marisnick went 1-for-3 with a solo home run to help lead the offense, while Tyler White was also 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Tony Kemp finished 2-for-3, while Michael Brantley was 2-for-4 with a double. Alex Bregman ended the contest 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Brad Peacock threw five shutout innings of two-hit baseball with nine strikeouts and no walks to earn the win. Verlander draws the start tonight as he comes in with a 7-1 record, 2.38 ERA and 0.79 WHIP with 77 strikeouts over 64 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are 14-37 in their last 51 Tuesday games. Chicago is 2-17 in the last 19 Covey road starts.
Houston
The Astros are 7-1 in the last eight Verlander home starts. Houston is 64-29 in its last 93 games overall.
Prediction:
This isn’t even fair. Covey has mostly struggled at the MLB level, while Verlander is…. well, Verlander. The moneyline is too much to stomach, so I’m going to look at taking the Astros on the runline as there is good reason to think this game might get ugly. While it’s still a pretty steep price to bet on Houston winning by multiple runs, it’s the probable outcome here.
