The Atlanta Braves were shut out at home Friday night by the Miami Marlins. Will Atlanta find its offense tonight and bounce back with a win to even the series at a game apiece?

Straily pitches shutdown baseball

Marlins starting pitcher Dan Straily did not allow a run over seven innings of work Friday night at Atlanta, giving up three hits while striking out six and walking three. His ERA dropped to 3.60 and he improved his record to 2-0. JT Realmuto finished 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, a run and an RBI to pace Miami's offense. Martin Prado was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Starlin Castro finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Brad Ziegler threw a scoreless ninth inning for his eighth save.

Jose Urena (0-6, 4.38 ERA) draws today's start.

Markakis has strong night in defeat

Braves right fielder Nick Markakis had three of the four hits by the hosts in the 2-0 defeat. One of the hits went for his 11th double of the season. He is now batting .343 with a .415 on-base percentage and .529 slugging percentage. The only other hit was recorded by shortstop Johan Comargo, who ended the night 1-for-3. Matt Wisler, who was called up from Triple A, took the loss as he allowed two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks over 5 1/3 innings.

The Braves turn to Sean Newcomb (4-1, 2.51 ERA) on the mound today.

MLB Betting Treds

The Marlins are 2-14 in the last 16 Urena starts. The over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings.

Atlanta is 10-25 in its last 35 road games. The under is 7-3-1 in Newcomb's 11 starts.

The Braves don't get shut down very often at home and they should have more success against Urena, who has struggled to get anything going this season. The price is high, but I fully expect Atlanta to even the series here.
