Orioles’ Bundy rebounds from worst start of season with win
Dylan Bundy threw seven scoreless innings and allowed just two hits in a victory over the Rays on Sunday. What a tremendous bounce-back this is for Bundy, who was historically bad by allowing seven runs without getting an out on Tuesday against the Royals. He did walk four, but he struck out seven and looked more like the starter that we saw at the beginning of the season than the disaster he was in his previous few outings. Bundy will try and keep things going on Saturday when he faces the Red Sox in Fenway Park
Red Sox’ Porcello loses for first time in 2018 season
Rick Porcello took his first loss of the year after giving up five runs in six innings Monday against the A’s. The Red Sox offense almost bailed him out, scoring single runs in the seventh and eighth innings, but Carson Smith gave up a sixth run in the top of the eighth and the Red Sox lost 6-5. Porcello has given up 10 runs in his last two starts, though that was probably bound to happen at some point. He figures to be more solid than spectacular going forward.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles are 2-5 in Bundy’s last seven starts against the Red Sox, are 1-4 in their last five games in Boston and have dropped seven of their last eight games versus the BoSox overall.
Boston
The Red Sox have lost six of Porcello’s last seven starts versus the Orioles and are winless in his last four home outings against Baltimore.
Prediction:
The under has been a profitable play when these two teams meet but I see this game being another high-scoring affair. Baltimore’s offense can be boom or bust, as evidence of the first two games in this series. That said, the over is 4-0 in Bundy’s last four starts, is 8-2 in his last 10 outings against the rest of the American League East, and is 16-6-1 in the Orioles’ last 23 games coming off a win. With Porcello not quite right himself, I see this game cashing the over.
The Pick: Orioles/Red Sox over 9
