Hill, Bellinger power Dodgers
Rich Hill threw six two-hit shutout innings Friday night in a 6-0 victory at Cincinnati. Hill struck out 10 batters in the stellar outing and did not walk anyone. The Dodgers scored twice in the second inning and two more in the third en route to the win. Cody Bellinger went 2-for-4 with his 16th home run of the season, a double and three runs scored to pace the offense. Corey Seager went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Joc Pederson was 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Max Muncy ended the contest 2-for-5 with a solo home run. Walker Buehler will start this afternoon for LA as he enters with a 4-0 record, 4.15 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 39 strikeouts over 43 1/3 innings.
Reds held to three hits
Cincinnati could only muster three hits Friday night in a 6-0 home loss against Los Angeles to drop to 20-25 overall and 11-10 at home. Curt Casali helped pace the limited offense by going 1-for-3, while Joey Votto and Eugenio Suarez each finished 1-for-4. Anthony DeSclafani suffered the loss as he surrendered four earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and four walks over four innings. Tyler Mahle starts this afternoon as he comes in with an 0-5 record, 3.97 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 49 strikeouts over 45 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 7-3 in the last 10 Buehler starts. Los Angeles is 22-8 in its last 30 games overall.
Cincinnati
The Reds are 4-1 in their last five Saturday games. Cincinnati is 3-13 in the last 16 Mahle starts.
Prediction:
The two starting pitchers have trended in opposite directions on the luck factor this season as shown by their win-loss records. That speaks to how good the two respective teams are. But with the Reds at home and Mahle due for a win considering he’s had a good season to date, I’m going to take a shot on the Reds ending LA’s win streak today. Cincinnati has a better offense than what has been on display this year and even if it can find it’s way to four runs this afternoon, that might be enough if Mahle pitches to his ability.
