Cubs fall in 10 innings

Chicago lost by a 6-5 score in 10 innings Wednesday night at Cincinnati to drop to 25-15 overall and 10-9 on the road. Addison Russell helped pace the Cubs offense as he went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Albert Almora Jr. finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Kyle Schwarber was 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk. Brad Brach suffered the loss as he gave up one earned run on two hits in relief with no strikeouts and two walks. Jose Quintana will take the mound tonight for Chicago as he enters with a 4-2 record, 3.50 ERA and 1.25 WHIP plus 46 strikeouts over 46 1/3 innings.

Puig drives in winning run

Yasiel Puig hit a game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th inning Wednesday night to lead Cincinnati to a 6-5 home win over Chicago. It was the only hit and RBI for Puig in five at-bats. Jose Iglesias helped lead the Reds as he went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Eugenio Suarez ended the contest 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and three RBIs. Derek Dietrich finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Nick Senzel was 2-for-5 and scored a run from the top of the lineup. Amir Garrett earned the win in relief as he retired the only batter he faced. Luis Castillo starts tonight for Cincinnati as he comes in with a 4-1 record, 1.76 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with 70 strikeouts over 56 1/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

The Cubs are 5-1 in their last six road games. Chicago is 20-6 in its last 26 games overall.

The Reds are 4-1 in their last five Thursday games. Cincinnati is 26-55 in the last 81 meetings.

Cincinnati won a thriller last night and now sends its best pitcher to the mound tonight in Castillo. The Reds will have a tough task against Quintana, but he is a highly talented pitcher who also deals with inconsistencies. While he's been solid as of late, Quintana will be in a hitter's ballpark and will need to be on top of his game to keep up with Castillo. Look for Cincinnati to mount enough offense to support its ace, who has allowed more than two earned runs in only one of his nine starts this season.
