White Sox bounce back
Following a 4-3 loss on Friday, Chicago bounced back on Saturday by picking up a 7-2 win over the Blue Jays in Toronto. Chicago is now 17-21 on the season, 9-11 on the road and 21-16 with the over. Chicago has Lucas Giolito taking the mound today. He is 3-1 on the year with a 4.06 ERA.
Ivan Nova had a somewhat surprising outing, as he pitched six innings and allowed just one run on Saturday to pick up his second win of the year. James McCann continued his strong 2019 season, as he had four hits and scored twice. He is now hitting .376 for the season. Yolmer Sanchez hit his first homer of the year and drove in two in the win as well.
Blue Jays struggle at the plate again
Even though it won 4-3 on Friday, the Jays went back to struggling for runs on Saturday in the 7-2 loss to Chicago. The Jays are just 2-9 in their last 11. Toronto is now 16-23 on the season, 8-12 at home and 23-16 with the under. Aaron Sanchez will be the starter today. He is 3-3 on the season with a 3.21 ERA.
Marcus Stroman took another loss on Saturday, his sixth of the year. He gave up three earned runs in 6.1 innings while the Toronto pen gave up another three earned runs over the last 2.2 innings. Randal Grichuk had a triple and a home run to lead the Jays at the plate. Toronto scattered eight hits in the loss, leaving six on base for the game.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are 1-5 in their last six Game 3’s of a series, but 8-3 in Giolito’s last 11 road starts.
Toronto
The Blue Jays have won Sanchez’ last six Sunday starts and six of his last seven starts at home.
Prediction:
Sanchez has been pretty solid this season, getting fairly deep into games while taking minimal damage. He’s not going to completely dominate, but does enough to compete. Problem is, his hitters can’t say the same. Toronto has just seven runs over its last five games. Today they face Giolito, who just pitched 7.1 scoreless in Cleveland. Like Saturday, I think the Chicago pitching will be made to look better than it is by this Toronto hitting and the White Sox power bats will make things happen in order to secure a road win.
MLB Prediction: Chicago White Sox +110
