Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers, the Indians are the clear favorite today, as they are getting odds of -200 to win. The Royals are listed with a money line of +170 to prevail, while the over/under total has been set at 8.5 runs. The public betting currently has 69 percent of the wagers going on the Royals on the road. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Royals stun Cleveland
The Royals stunned the Indians in Friday’s series opener, 10-9. KC is now 13-25 overall and 7-12 on the road. The Royals are averaging 4.05 runs per game while allowing 5.59 per contest.
Jakob Junis will take the mound on Saturday for the Royals looking for another upset. He’s been one of the few bright spots for KC on the mound as he is 4-2 with a 3.18 ERA and 0.99 WHIP. Junis has pitched 45.1 innings and has 38 strikeouts with nine walks.
Indians continue to stumble
While Cleveland ended a four-game losing streak on Thursday, their winning ways didn’t last long after suffering the loss on Friday. The Tribe are now 18-19 overall and 11-9 at home. That is still good enough to lead the AL Central by 1 game. Cleveland is putting up 4.56 runs per game this season while allowing 4.33 per contest.
Mike Clevinger takes the mound for Cleveland looking to right the ship. He is 2-0 through seven starts, but the Tribe have lost his last three outings. Clevinger has a 2.76 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP this season. He also has 39 strikeouts with 14 walks through 45.2 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Kansas City
The Royals have won four of Junis’ last five road starts and six of his last eight starts overall. They also have won five of his last seven division starts.
Cleveland
The Indians have lost four of Clevinger’s last five starts overall, but won his last six Saturday starts. They are also 44-19 in their last 63 home games.
Prediction:
While there is plenty of reason to think the Indians will win this game, they aren’t playing very well right now and Clevinger has been trending on the negative over recent starts. Junis actually brings something to work with for Kansas City today and I think this could be a low-scoring game. With the odds so lopsided, I think betting on KC has plenty of value.
The Pick: Kansas City Royals +170
