Padres crushed in series opener
San Diego lost by a score of 12-2 Friday night at Colorado to drop to 21-18 overall and 11-7 on the road. The Padres trailed 9-0 through four innings and were unable to recover. Franmil Reyes went 3-for-5 with a double and a run to lead the San Diego offense. Manny Machado finished 3-for-5 with an RBI. Ty France finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Eric Lauer took the loss as he surrendered eight earned runs on eight hits over three innings, striking out one and walking two. Joey Lucchesi will start today as he enters with a 3-2 record, 5.00 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with 36 strikeouts over 36 innings
Seven-run inning propels Rockies
Colorado scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning Friday night in a 12-2 home win over San Diego. Trevor Story helped pace the offense as he was 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Charlie Blackmon finished 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs. MLB Betting Trends
The Padres are 1-6 in their last seven games versus the NL West. San Diego is 5-16 in its last 21 Saturday games.
The Rockies are 1-6 in their last seven Saturday games. Colorado is 4-0 in the last four Gray starts.
San Diego might be having the better season thus far, but it is on the road here sending a left-handed starter to the mound in Coors Field against a lineup that is capable of crushing lefties. Look for Story and Arenado to be heavily involved again to go with a solid Gray outing to send the Rockies to another home victory.
