According to oddsmakers, the Rangers are favored at home today, as they are getting odds of -125 to win. The Tigers are listed with a money line of +115 to prevail, while the over/under total has been set at 9.5 runs. The public betting currently has 59% going on Detroit on the road today. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Tigers end skid vs. Rangers
The Tigers ended a five-game losing streak to the Rangers, dating back to last season, with Tuesday’s 7-4 victory. They are now 15-20 overall and 7-12 on the road. The Tigers are putting up 4.35 runs per game this season while allowing 4.65 per contest.
Francisco Liriano is on the mound for Detroit today and he has been one of the few bright spots for the Tigers. Through six starts, Liriano is 3-1 with a 2.97 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. He has amassed 26 strikeouts and 16 walks through 36.1 innings of work in 2018.
Rangers fail to win back-to-back games
After a 7-6 win on Monday, the Rangers failed to put together back-to-back wins on Tuesday. Texas is now 14-24 overall and 7-14 at home. Texas is averaging 4.08 runs per game this season while allowing 5.43 per game.
Bartolo Colon gets the start for the Rangers this afternoon. He has been a pleasant surprise this year, posting a 3.29 ERA and 0.83 whip through five starts and seven appearances. Colon is 1-1 and has pitched 38.1 innings. He has 25 strikeouts with just three walks.
MLB Betting Trends
The Tigers are only 9-21 in their last 30 road games and 7-21 in their last 28 against AL West opponents.
The Rangers are now just 8-24 in their last 32 home games and they have lost 8 of their last 11 during the third game in a series. They are lost 2-8 in their last 10 games against a left-handed starter.
Today’s game features a pair of pitchers rekindling some success from year’s past. I like the Tigers and Liriano over Colon and the Rangers. While Colon has been quite incredible for his age, he has allowed 11 earned runs over his last three starts. That may be all Liriano needs today. He has been dialed in for Detroit and just not gotten much run support in his non-wins.
The Pick: Detroit Tigers +115
