Giants vs. Reds MLB Pick
Johnny Cueto has been the Giants’ best pitcher through the first month of the season but can he lead them to victory tonight against the Reds?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Giants are -160 money line favorites over the Reds, who have odds of +145 to pull off the upset tonight at 7:10PM ET. With Cueto set to face Brandon Finnegan in the pitching matchup, the over/under sits at 7.5 runs.
Bet Tonight’s Giants vs. Reds Game
In his last outing, Cueto struck out 11 Padres in route to a complete game shutout in the Giants’ 1-0 victory last Tuesday. The right-hander scattered seven hits while walking one to improve his record to 4-1 on the season. Cueto now holds a 2.65 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 33/5 over 37 1/3 innings of work.
While Cueto has been dominant for the Giants, Finnegan has been inconsistent for the Reds. He pitched well last Tuesday against the Mets, although he still allowed three runs over 6 1/3 innings. Things fell apart for the lefty in the seventh when he issued a walk to Juan Lagares and then a single to Kevin Plawecki. Manager Bryan Price left Finnegan in to face pinch-hitter Yoenis Cespedes, who deposited the first pitch he saw over the left field wall. Finnegan now owns a 3.86 ERA.

OUR PICK: The Giants are 4-1 in Cueto’s last five starts, are 5-1 in their last six games versus the Reds, and are 5-1 in their last six games in Cincinnati. The Reds, meanwhile, have lost 20 of their last 28 games versus a right-handed starter and are 1-5 in their last six home games following a road trip of seven or more days. At a -160 price tag, the Giants are a little steep tonight on the money line but with Cueto on the mound, San Francisco should get the job done.
