Oakland A’s Fantasy Spin
Brett Anderson allowed 10 hits and six runs over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday. Anderson struggled from the start, allowing four runs over the first two innings of the start. He also walked two, and was able to fan two in the loss. The veteran southpaw had pitched well in his first four starts of the year, but this was an unfriendly reminder that Anderson’s stuff isn’t close to elite, and blowup outings like this are possible. You’ll have to take the bitter with the better if you’re rostering Anderson. He’s on the mound again on Friday against the Pirates
Toronto Blue Jays Fantasy Spin
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 1-for-4 with a walk in the Blue Jays’ victory over the Athletics on Saturday. Guerrero Jr. has his first single in the big leagues after he doubled last night. You’ll have to excuse us for the number of updates we’ll have on Vladdy Jr. over the first few weeks even if they aren’t awe-inspiring, we’re just really excited to see him in the right league. It’s also worth noting he hit cleanup in this contest, so the run-producing opportunities should be there for the 20-year-old wunderkind.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The A’s are now 4-9 in their last 13 road games.
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 6-0 in their last six games when playing opponents from the AL West.
Prediction:
Tor0nto starter Trent Thornton started the season off well but he has regressed since. He’s allowed five home runs in his last four games and if the roof is open in Toronto today, the ball could fly out of the yard at a good rate. Chris Bassitt is more of a wild card at this point, but the addition of Guerrero Jr. makes this Blue Jays lineup more potent.
The Pick: A’s/Blue Jays OVER 9.5
