Diamondbacks’ Godley picks up third win in four decisions
Zack Godley allowed two earned runs, six hits and a walk with eight strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a victory against the Padres on Saturday. Godley threw just 57 of his 94 pitches for strikes in the outing on his 28th birthday, picking up his third win in four decisions, all against National League West Division foes. His control was back after an erratic outing last time out on the road against the Dodgers, but he still didn’t go very deep into the game. He’ll look to get back into the quality start column in his next scheduled outing Friday in Washington opposite Stephen Strasburg.
Strasburg dominant but takes loss vs. Dodgers
Stephen Strasburg allowed two earned runs, five hits and two walks with a season-high 10 strikeouts over seven innings in a road loss against the Dodgers. Strasburg’s only two mistakes were solo homers to Joc Pederson and Enrique Hernandez, but that was enough to turn a quality start into a loss. Hyun-Jin Ryu was tossing up donuts on the other side and was just a touch better. Strasburg has three quality starts in five outings this season, and he’ll look to keep it going on Friday against Zack Godley and the Diamondbacks at Nationals Park.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 5-2 in Godley’s last seven starts against the National League East and are 1-4 in his last five road outings versus a team with a losing record.
Washington
The Nationals are 35-16 in Strasburg’s last 51 home starts and are 19-7 in his last 26 outings when coming off five days of rest.
Prediction:
The under has cashed in four of the last five meetings between these two teams and with these two pitchers on the mound, I like these two teams to make that trend 5-1 after tonight. The under is 12-5 in Strasburg’s last 17 starts overall, is 6-1 in his last seven outings coming off five days of rest and is 8-2 in Godley’s last 10 road starts.
The Pick: Diamondbacks/Nationals under 7
