Brewers’ Anderson coming off good start vs. Marlins
Chase Anderson allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings in a win over the Marlins on Thursday. Anderson wasn’t at the top of his game, serving up a pair of homers among his five hits allowed, but he was good enough on a day when the Brewers provided him 12 runs of support.
The win was his second in a row to improve him to 2-1 through five starts, and he owns a 3.25 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 27 2/3 innings. An interleague start with the Royals awaits Anderson on Wednesday.
Cubs’ Hendricks coming off quality start
Kyle Hendricks allowed three earned runs, five hits and no walks with six strikeouts over five innings in a win at Colorado on Friday. Hendricks threw just 57 of his 95 pitches for strikes, and he hit one batter with a pitch.
However, it was good enough to qualify for his first victory of 2018, helped out by plenty of run support. He’ll look to piece together a win streak when he toes the slab at Wrigley Field on Thursday against the Brewers. He was 1-1 with a 4.18 ERA with 26 strikeouts over 28 innings in five outings against Milwaukee in 2017.
